Fashion predictions for 2012 by Jemma Halsen
As the cold weather graciously leaves us behind, we can start to look forward to warmer temperatures and sunnier days – though if you live in Britain, this isn’t necessarily always the case! With this, we also say goodbye to the thick chunky knit sweaters and thermals that dominated the winter season, to be replaced with more floaty, looser and overall lighter fashion wear.
There will likely be a large focus on pastel colours, which do not dazzle in the sunshine and can help you to remain elegant and pull of the ’summer girl’ look. As well as this, there will also be a large focus placed on floral print to compliment the blossoming flowers around you – so you need not look out of place on a relaxing walk in the park!
To go alongside this floral print, it is likely that we will also see a large influx of floral lace type material fashion garments – these are often quite lacey and delicate, emulating the look of a flower, so if you have thin legs, you could also wear green tights or leggings and actually look a bit like a flower!
Crop tops are making a comeback and are taking many designs including the form of bra-lets. These can look great with some stomach showing although this takes the confidence to do so. For those who have less confidence these can still be worn with some clever styling. Wear them with a high-waisted skirt or shorts or alternatively wear under a sheer shirt.
Hot pants are looking to be a popular statement and can look amazing and help show off those fabulous legs. However if you aren’t so confident about your legs you can either team them with some of the many funky patterned tights that are available out there or wear shorts with a longer leg. Pleats are continuing to prove popular so bring out last season’s pleated skirts and update your look with the addition of a new top or accessories.
If you are looking for something a bit smarter then try one of the summer suits that are set to show some warmth on the colder days. A suit jacket and tailored shorts in a bright or pastel colour is a great way of looking smart for that occasion that requires a smarter edge.
Just because you have a wardrobe packed with winter fashion, it doesn’t mean you have to stick to that style – branch out and brighten yourself up for the Summer – take in some sunshine and wear lighter and airy clothes before you end up missing the season altogether.
